Overview
This tool was designed to manage the user grid resources which is an important aspect of grid computing. Currently this tool is used only for Grid'5000 platform and provides several operations to facilitate the access to this platform.
Grid'5000
Grid'5000 project aims at building a highly reconfigurable, controlable and monitorable experimental Grid platform gathering 9 sites geographically distributed in France featuring a total of 5000 processors. The main purpose of this platform is to serve as an experimental testbed for research in Grid Computing.
History
GRUDU as a stand alone tool is a fork of the resource tool used in the DIET DashBoard, a front-end for DIET, a GridRPC middleware.
Short features overview
As GRUDU is written in Java it is cross-platform and can be used either on Windows, Linux or Mac platforms. The software provides all the necessary tools needed by a grid user who can through a GUI:
- Display the status of the platform (grid/site/job level)
- Allocate resources through the use of OAR (oar v1 & v2 are supported)
- Monitor resources through the use of the Ganglia (site/job nodes)
- Manage deployments with a GUI for KaDeploy (multiple sites at a time)
- Access to terminal emulator (access frontale/ site frontale/job main node connection)
- Transfer files with a file transfer manager (local/remote and synchronization features)
